A good headline is essential. The introduction should also immediately grab the reader’s attention. You simply can’t afford to bury the main essence of your release halfway down the page. By then, your reader will be long gone. Remember, if your news angle is not conveyed in the first five seconds, it will simply not be read.
I’ve received countless press releases over the years while working as a news reporter for a major newspaper group.
I can also write advertorial copy. This is copy that has been paid for and is often used to give details about a particular product or business. There may be a page of advertorial, for example, in a property section of a newspaper paid for by a real estate agent. This way, they are getting their message across and are not limited by what the publication wishes to publish as they have paid for their message.
